The main objective of our monthly is to offer information on events and trends in the modern Jewish world, on the most important political social, economic and cultural developments in Israel. We also focus on Jewish life in Hungary, the main problems facing Hungarian Jewry, as well as the possible courses of development and the rich historical and cultural heritage of this community. Szombat is open to all main trends in the modern Jewish world.Our main goal is to provide our readers with an overview as broad as possible. In the seven years since Szombat was launched, the paper has become a basic institution of "Hungarian Jewish democracy" that cannot be avoided by anyone wishing to become acquainted with the life of Hungarian Jewry. On this Homepage you will find a selection of the articles published in Hungarian since April 1997 together with a brief English summary of all issues that appeared over the last two years.
